The Tactical 45 rucksack is a 45–50-litre rucksack designed for multi-day use, commonly referred to as a ‘backpack’. This rucksack will appeal to users who do not wish to carry a large rucksack, such as the Tactical 75, but who appreciate the sophisticated back system that this rucksack features. The design of the back system allows for full and seamless adjustment to suit any body type. Members of the 43rd Airborne Battalion in Chrudim and the Soldato Team test group were involved in the development of this rucksack. The third generation of this popular rucksack is characterised above all by a large front opening to the main compartment, which gives the user convenient access to their gear without having to rummage around in a ‘snake bag’.
Comfortable carrying is ensured by anatomically shaped, padded shoulder straps with a chest strap and a full-length hip belt, which can be easily detached. The shoulder straps are extended to ensure comfort even when wearing protective ballistic vests. Naturally, 3D spacer mesh with an antibacterial finish is used on the back, shoulder straps and hip belt for even better heat and moisture wicking.
The rucksack features a funnel-style design with two access points: from the top and from the front. The ‘flap’ of the main compartment contains two flat mesh pockets for smaller items. The top access to the compartment is fitted with a drawstring to increase or decrease the volume by approximately 7 litres. The expansion tube is covered by a flap with two smaller pockets, which can be smoothly raised or lowered as required. It is even possible to detach it completely and use it separately as a small 5-litre bag, carried using the included straps.
Inside the rucksack, there is a pocket with an elasticated insert for carrying a radio or laptop. At the top, there is a attachment point for a hydration bladder with a tube routed to the shoulder strap, where there are special clips for securing the tube. A Velcro loop is provided on the strap for the convenient attachment of any hydration bladder. The surface of the sides, front and lid of the rucksack features a MOLLE webbing system for attaching additional pockets and accessories. On the sides of the rucksack there are two compression straps with a three-pronged buckle for reducing the rucksack’s size if necessary, or conversely for securing larger items (e.g. a sleeping mat, tarpaulin, telescopic poles). There are also additional straps on the base of the rucksack for securing a sleeping mat or sleeping bag. Any excess strap length is secured by a ‘strap tamer’ to prevent it from moving freely. The sides also feature pockets for a water bottle, walking poles or other equipment.
To make it easier to carry the rucksack by hand, there are carrying handles on the sides, which also help when putting the rucksack on your back or when wading, when you need to carry the rucksack above your head. The rucksack also includes a rain cover, which is stowed in a pocket at the base of the rucksack.
