SOLAS Convention
The contract guaranteeing minimum security of non-combatant (mainly merchant) ships. This convention sets standards of design elements and minimal amount of rescue equipment (such as lifeboats, flares etc.). The first version of this agreement was internationally recognized two years after the sinking of the RMS Titanic.
