The history of the 71st Parachute Battalion began on 1 October 1947 with the formation of the 71st Infantry Battalion (Parachute). Following its disbandment in 1969, the unit was re-established on 1 October 1987 in Chrudim as the 71st Assault Parachute Battalion. Today, the 43rd Parachute Regiment of the Czech Armed Forces carries on its traditions.
