The Foundation rucksack has been designed for hunters who need ample storage space and comfort on all-day hunting trips. The rucksack has a capacity of 41 litres and weighs 2.89 kg.
Carrying system:
The rucksack’s carrying system consists of a moulded aluminium support frame. The body of the rucksack is made from 330D nylon (for single-colour versions) and 450D polyester (for camouflage versions) with a tear-resistant rip-stop finish. If required, the rucksack bag can be completely removed and the back system used on its own.
The shoulder straps feature an elasticated, cushioned chest strap that is height-adjustable, as well as plastic D-rings and loops, which are suitable, for example, for attaching a hydration bladder tube. The straps are padded with thick 3D mesh and are anatomically shaped. At the top of the shoulder straps are stabilising stops that can be adjusted for height. The shoulder straps can also be adjusted for height using Velcro fasteners located on the support frame and are secured by loops that prevent the straps from accidentally coming loose from the Velcro. Above the shoulder straps is a simple carrying handle.
The hip belt is substantial and consists of a large padded section covered with silicone strips, which prevent the rucksack from slipping unintentionally whilst on the move. The sides of the hip belt are also heavily padded and fasten together using a large plastic buckle. The outer side of the hip belt is covered with a laser-cut modular Molle/Pals webbing system for attaching additional pouches.
Sides of the rucksack:
The sides are asymmetrical; on one side, the rucksack features an open, elasticated bottle pocket. The other side of the rucksack consists of a long pocket designed for binoculars, accessible via a two-way zip. On both sides, there are a pair of compression straps, which can also be used to attach additional equipment. These straps connect the rucksack body to the support frame. There is an opening on both sides for feeding through the hydration system tube.
Front of the rucksack:
On the front of the rucksack are compression straps that hold the external storage panel in place. You can carry bulky items and equipment in this panel – such as a jacket, trousers, a bow or antlers. This panel features an embroidered logo of the RMEF (Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation), an organisation dedicated to nature conservation and the protection of wild elk and other wildlife. Eberlestock donates a portion of the proceeds from every sale of backpacks bearing the RMEF logo to this foundation.
At the top of the rucksack is a smaller pocket, accessible via a two-way zip, for storing small items of kit.
The main access to the interior of the rucksack is via a two-way zip with a clamshell opening. You can open the rucksack only partially using the zips for top-loading, or unzip it completely to open the rucksack almost along its entire length and fold the front section of the rucksack fully back.
At the base of the rucksack, there are two adjustable straps used to secure the rucksack body to the support frame.
The rucksack can be expanded to provide additional space using the optional Pack Lid top cover.
Interior of the rucksack:
Inside the rucksack, there is one large compartment designed for a hydration bladder, which can be suspended using a loop. On the sides, there are two top-opening compartments and openings for the hydration bladder’s tube.
