Berghaus backpack MMPS CRUSADER IV 90+20L CEDAR
Crusader IV – the fourth generation of a time-tested backpack used by several European armies. Its strictly functional, robust design and durable materials ensure a long lifespan even in demanding military conditions. The detachable side pockets and compatibility with accessories from the MMPS and FLT collections allow the pack to be customized for specific user needs or mission requirements.
The design follows the classic expedition backpack layout, with both top and bottom access and an internal divider that allows separation of the main compartment into two parts via a drawstring collar. The top access features a height-adjustable lid with both inner and outer pockets and loops for attachment straps. The bottom entry is secured by a two-way zipper covered by a flap. Inside the main compartment, there is a sleeve for a hydration bladder with dual exit ports and two loops for attaching accessories from the FLT (Fight Light Pack System) collection. The front panel is equipped with PALS/MOLLE webbing, ice axe loops, and four plastic D-rings for additional straps. A second carry handle located above the modular webbing makes handling a full pack much easier. Compression straps run along the sides under the side pockets and are secured through rubberized loops.
The backpack comes with two detachable MMPS side pockets (each with a 10-liter capacity), attached with heavy-duty zippers. Each pocket can be used as an individual 10-liter daypack or zipped together to create a 20-liter pack. Shoulder straps for the side pockets are included.
The Cyclops II back system provides maximum comfort even under heavy loads. This is achieved by the massive, heavily padded hip belt with the patented BergBuckle closure and anatomically shaped shoulder straps. The back system is available in three fixed sizes based on back length (not adjustable), as shown in the table below.

MMPS – Multi Mission Pack System
This modular system, developed by Berghaus, offers maximum versatility for different situations. It is based on detachable side pockets that can be attached to the main pack or worn independently as a small daypack. These pockets can be used with any backpack featuring the MMPS system (note: compatibility with older Berghaus models is not guaranteed). With two backpacks and side pockets, you can create up to six different volume configurations. The side pockets are available in two sizes, either as organizer pockets or hydration-compatible versions, offering countless combinations for different missions.
Berghaus
In 1966, two British mountaineers founded the LD Mountain Centre, a specialized outdoor equipment store. Over time, they began designing, testing, and producing their own gear under the name Berghaus (“Mountain Centre” in German). Today, the brand remains one of the leading names in outdoor equipment manufacturing.
For military enthusiasts, Berghaus is well-known as a supplier of army backpacks. The company designed and delivered its first military rucksacks for the British Army during the Falklands War, and Berghaus packs are still used by armed forces in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Norway.
Berghaus continues to innovate and develop new models while maintaining its simple and functional military design philosophy. Every product begins as a prototype tested by military units, and only after real-world feedback and refinement does it enter serial production.
