How the R-value is measured: according to the ASTM F3340-22 standard, the thermal resistance of the mat is measured between a warm and a cold surface under laboratory conditions. The result indicates how much the material resists heat transfer.

R 1–2: for summer and warm weather above +10 °C, minimal insulation.

R 2–4: for 3-season use (spring and autumn), suitable for temperatures from +5 °C to 0 °C.

R 4–6: for winter use, suitable for temperatures from 0 °C to −15 °C, good winter insulation.

R 6+: for extreme winter conditions below −15 °C, ideal for expedition or arctic use.

R11: designed for extremely cold and freezing conditions.
