Knife OPINEL mushroom
Lightweight pocket knife from the french company Opinel suitable for mushroom pickers. Its blade has a special safe for easy work with mushrooms, the ending of the handle is equipped with a brush made from boar bristles for cleaning mushrooms. The blade is made from Sandvik 12c27 stainless steel and the handle is made from beech wood and has a hole for threading a cord. The knife comes with a rotating safety lock Viroblock which locks the blade in both open and closed conditions.
Stainless steel is an alloyed steel. It is produced by adding chromium, which significantly increases its resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel requires no special maintenance.
Beech wood is the most used for the production of Opinel handles. Comes from french farms, is heavy, durable and easy to work it. With its homogeneous appearance, its light color changes from yellow to pink. This is identifiable by the presence of many small dark lines. The handle is varnished to provide better protection against moisture and dirt.
The Virobloc safety ring, invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, is part of all folding knives from size 06 and above. The Virobloc is made of stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safe use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (for secure transport).
