The Peltonen M07 Ranger Puukko N690 is a durable Finnish fixed-blade knife designed for bushcraft, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. Its design is based on traditional Scandinavian Puukko knives and emphasises reliability, comfortable handling and practical use in the field. Thanks to its more compact dimensions and robust blade, it is suitable for general camp tasks, wood preparation and more precise cutting.
The blade, measuring 119 mm in length and 4.25 mm in thickness, is made from high-quality Böhler N690 stainless steel with a hardness of 59 HRC. This Austrian steel offers high wear resistance, good edge retention and corrosion resistance, whilst being relatively easy to resharpen if necessary. The Sabre Grind with a 23° cutting angle provides a good compromise between edge strength and cutting performance.
The blade has no additional protective coating. Its surface combines partially polished areas of the blade with polished bevels, creating a subtle contrast and emphasising the shape of the cutting edge. Thanks to the natural corrosion resistance of N690 steel, the knife is also suitable for use in damp environments.
The knife features a reinforced tang construction, in which the blade tang is securely housed within the handle. The ergonomically shaped handle, made from thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), provides a secure and comfortable grip even when wet or in cold weather. The material is resistant to wear, impact and temperature fluctuations, and its distinctive texture helps maintain control of the knife whilst working.
The pack includes a durable composite sheath with the EasyLock system, which securely locks the knife in place to prevent accidental deployment. The sheath can be easily attached to various outdoor and hiking equipment and is designed for ambidextrous use, making it suitable for both right- and left-handed users. The composite material withstands temperature fluctuations, chemicals and heavy impacts well, whilst being easy to clean and requiring no complicated maintenance. The knife was designed by Juha-Pekka Peltonen, a former captain in the Finnish Armed Forces, and is manufactured in Finland.
