The Peltonen M07 Ranger Puukko 80CrV2 Cerakote is a durable Finnish fixed-blade knife designed for bushcraft, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. Its design is based on traditional Scandinavian Puukko knives and emphasises reliability, comfortable handling and practical use in the field. This version is also fitted with a durable Cerakote finish, which provides enhanced protection for the blade when used in demanding conditions.
The blade, measuring 119 mm in length and 4.25 mm in thickness, is made from high-quality 80CrV2 carbon steel with a hardness of 59 HRC. This steel is characterised by high toughness, resistance to mechanical stress and good edge retention, whilst being relatively easy to sharpen. The Sabre Grind with a 23° cutting angle offers a good balance between edge strength and cutting performance.
The blade is fitted with a protective Cerakote ceramic coating, which significantly increases the surface’s resistance to corrosion, wear and tear, and external influences. This finish is particularly suitable for demanding outdoor use and helps to protect the carbon steel when working in damp conditions. Unprotected parts of the blade, particularly the cutting edge itself, should still be kept clean and dry and treated with oil as required.
The knife features a reinforced hidden tang construction, in which the blade tang is securely housed within the handle. The ergonomically shaped handle, made from thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), provides a secure and comfortable grip even when wet or in cold weather. The material is resistant to wear, impact and temperature fluctuations, and its distinctive texture helps maintain control of the knife whilst working.
The pack includes a durable composite sheath with the EasyLock system, which securely locks the knife in place to prevent accidental deployment. The sheath can be easily attached to various outdoor and hiking equipment and is designed for ambidextrous use, making it suitable for both right- and left-handed users. The composite material withstands temperature fluctuations, chemicals and heavy impacts well, whilst being easy to clean and requiring no complicated maintenance. The knife was designed by Juha-Pekka Peltonen, a former captain in the Finnish Armed Forces, and is manufactured in Finland.
