The Peltonen M07 Ranger Puukko 80CrV2 Cerakote is a durable Finnish fixed-blade knife designed for bushcraft, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. Its design is based on traditional Scandinavian Puukko knives and emphasises reliability, comfortable handling and practical use in the field. This version is also fitted with a durable Cerakote finish and a Kydex sheath, which provide enhanced protection and practicality when used in demanding conditions.
The blade, measuring 119 mm in length and 4.25 mm in thickness, is made from high-quality 80CrV2 carbon steel with a hardness of 59 HRC. This steel is characterised by high toughness, resistance to mechanical stress and good edge retention, whilst being relatively easy to sharpen. The Sabre Grind with a 23° cutting angle provides a good balance between edge strength and cutting performance.
The blade is fitted with a protective Cerakote ceramic coating, which enhances the surface’s resistance to corrosion, wear and tear, and external influences. This finish is particularly suitable for demanding outdoor use and helps to protect the carbon steel when working in damp conditions. The unprotected parts of the blade, particularly the cutting edge itself, should still be kept clean and dry and treated with oil as required.
The knife features a reinforced hidden tang construction, in which the blade tang is securely housed within the handle. The ergonomically shaped handle, made from thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), provides a secure and comfortable grip even when wet or in cold weather. The material is resistant to wear, impact and temperature fluctuations, and its distinctive texture helps maintain control of the knife whilst working.
The package includes a durable Kydex sheath, which offers good resistance to impacts, moisture and temperature fluctuations. The sheath is compatible with the Tek-Lok attachment system, allowing it to be attached to various types of belts or other equipment. The sheath’s design can be easily adjusted for both right- and left-handed users, although it is supplied in a right-handed configuration as standard. The knife was designed by Juha-Pekka Peltonen, a former captain in the Finnish Armed Forces, and is manufactured in Finland.
