The classic Boonie hat, which was introduced into the US Army during the Vietnam War and with minor modifications is still in use today.
Rothco 's Boonie hats are made to the exact government specifications for US Army equipment (Hat, sun hot weather type II, MIL-TYPE-J-44320). They have four ventilation holes (with a grille), a neck cord with a leather stop and loops around the perimeter of the hat for attaching additional camouflage (called a foliage ring).
