The Recon Smock is a jacket based on the classic military smock cut, designed for reconnaissance, sniper and other long-term field operations. The main emphasis is on the ability to carry a larger amount of equipment directly in the jacket, thereby reducing the need for additional pouches or belt gear.
The jacket is made from Duracanvas Heavy fabric with a weight of 225 g/m². The densely woven blend of polyester and cotton offers high durability for field use and enhanced wind protection. The fabric can also be treated with wax to increase its resistance to moisture.
The Recon Smock features a total of 11 pockets distributed across the front, sides, sleeves and back. Four large front pockets with flaps are designed for bulkier equipment, whilst two flat zipped chest pockets allow quick access to items such as a map, compass, notepad or documents. Selected pockets are fitted with loops for securing small items with a cord.
There are additional pockets on the sides, suitable for items such as a water bottle, a radio or a first-aid kit. The design also includes hand-warming pockets. The large ‘poacher-style’ rear pocket is accessible from both sides and can hold items such as a poncho, a light insulating layer or other soft gear. The mesh panel on the back promotes air circulation.
To enhance comfort whilst moving, the jacket is fitted with large underarm ventilation zips. The main fastening combines a zip and press studs, so in warmer conditions the jacket can be worn fastened only with the press studs to improve airflow across the front.
The spacious hood offers three-point adjustment. Drawcords at the waist and bottom hem allow you to adjust the fit for layered clothing and minimise wind penetration. The sleeve cuffs can be adjusted using Velcro to fit, for example, the gloves you are wearing. There are also Velcro panels on the sleeves for attaching patches.
