ANSI Z87.1 tests examine the mechanical resistance of the glasses and their protection against UV radiation according to very strict criteria.
Wiley X glasses that meet this standard are tested against the impact of a high-speed steel projectile with a diameter of 6.35 mm travelling at 164.6 km/h and the impact of a 500 g pointed cone dropped from a height of 127 cm.
