All Wiley X lenses feature the patented T-Shell™ coating. This coating prevents accidental damage to the lenses. When you choose Wiley X glasses, you get not only lenses made from top-quality material, but also a premium finish that ensures your product will last for years.

All Wiley X glasses come with lenses made from Selenite™ polycarbonate, whose structure consists of carbon and phenol atoms. These lenses offer up to ten times greater durability than standard glass lenses, whilst remaining lighter in weight. The reliability and, above all, the safety of the lenses are certified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Despite their strength and weight, the lenses do not cause image distortion or reduce optical accuracy.

The ANSI Z87.1 safety standard sets a clear benchmark for eye protection when wearing sunglasses. This standard is defined by the American National Standards Institute. ANSI Z87.1 tests examine the mechanical resistance of the glasses and their protection against UV radiation according to very strict criteria.

Wiley X glasses that meet this standard are tested against the impact of a high-speed steel projectile 6.35 mm in diameter travelling at 164.6 km/h, and against the impact of a 500 g pointed cone dropped from a height of 127 cm.

Compliance with the EN.166F standard means that the glasses can withstand, without damage, an impact from a steel ball 6 mm in diameter and weighing 0.86 g, travelling at a speed of 162 km/h from a distance of 1.3 m. To pass the test, the lens must remain firmly set in the frame and the frame itself must remain undamaged.
