The safety standard ANSI Z87.1 sets a clear standard for eye protection when wearing sunglasses. This standard is defined by the American National Standards Institute. ANSI Z87.1 tests examine the mechanical resistance of the glasses and their protection against UV radiation according to very strict criteria.

Wiley X sunglasses that meet this standard are tested against the impact of a high-speed steel projectile with a diameter of 6.35 mm at a speed of 164.6 km/h and the impact of a 500 g pointed cone dropped from a height of 127 cm.

The lenses of Wiley X glasses are coated with a premium Anti-Fog coating, which increases the glasses’ resistance to fogging. Fogging occurs during rapid transitions between cold and warm air, as well as due to high humidity caused , for example, during strenuous physical activity. The Anti-Fog coating on the glasses and its effectiveness can be restored or enhanced by applying a suitable spray product.

Compliance with the EN.166F standard means that the glasses will withstand, without damage, an impact from a steel ball 6 mm in diameter and weighing 0.86 g at a speed of 162 km/h from a distance of 1.3 m. To pass the test, the lens must remain firmly in the frame and the frame itself must remain undamaged.
