EDC glasses with a slightly curved frame and removable protective side shields that perfectly protect the eyes from fine particles. If required, these side shields can be permanently attached to the glasses (they cannot subsequently be removed without damaging the frame), thereby providing a higher level of protection for tactical use. The temples are fitted with rubberised tips for maximum grip, and the nose bridge features the same finish.

The frame is made from durable Triloid™ nylon, which ranks among the strongest non-metallic materials used in eyewear manufacturing. The lenses are made from premium Selenite™ polycarbonate. This material does not shatter upon impact with a projectile and also features a T-SHELL™ coating to protect against accidental scratches.

The ANSI Z87.1 safety standard sets a clear benchmark for eye protection when wearing sunglasses. This standard is defined by the American National Standards Institute. ANSI Z87.1 tests examine the mechanical resistance of the glasses and their protection against UV radiation according to very strict criteria.
Wiley X glasses that meet this standard are tested against the impact of a high-speed steel projectile 6.35 mm in diameter travelling at 164.6 km/h, and against the impact of a 500 g pointed cone dropped from a height of 127 cm.
